About Me / Qualifications

I started playing tennis when I was 8 years old. My dad (Cedric) got me started and I now realise the great gift he gave me, when he taught me to play. I have been playing competively since age 11 (mostly fixtures; occasional tournaments). I currently play in the Brisbane Northside Super-grade 1 competition.

I started my coaching journey 13 years ago and completed the ATPCA coaching course a couple of years ago. I have worked part-time for 2 tennis centres and then started to provide coaching services (as part of my own business), utilising the courts at Stafford Parish.

I enjoy the challenge of working with people and coming up with lesson plans, that will help improve people's tennis game.

Qualifications

  • - Graduate Professional Tennis Coach (ATPCA)
  • - Current Superleague (Supergrade) fixtures player
  • - Current First Aid & CPR certified
  • - Current 'Blue Card' (Working with children - Qld Gov)
  • - Current Police check (National Crime Check)
  • - Current public liability & professional indemnity (via Sportscover/ ATPCA).

It's a New Year and Aust Open - Look-out!!

Hi tennis amigos!

Coaching classes are almost locked-in and I'm looking forward to a great Term 1 and 2026 with everyone.

People may be aware that my personal situation has changed and I've needed to reduce my coaching sessions. I now coach on the arvo/evenings of Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, with Saturday now no-longer available.
I've had to cancel some private lessons (sorry) and I'm working with people to find a suitable group class or coaching alternative that can keep you moving forward in your tennis journey.
I also have a coaching friend - Clinton Schoeman - who may also be able to assist. Clinton is able to coach people to an advanced level and has coached his kids to a high tournament level. Please stay in-contact with me, so I can support a good outcome for you.

I have 2x group classes on a Thursday night. Please contact me if you are keen for this.

See you on the court!
Andy Burnett
